Motion Planning & Navigation

How a robot decides where to go and how to move to get there safely.

Planning decides what path or trajectory a robot should follow to reach a goal while avoiding obstacles and respecting its limits.

Given a model of the robot and the world, planning finds feasible, safe and often optimal motions in a space that can have many dimensions.

It sits between perception and control. Efficient planners make navigation, manipulation and flight possible in cluttered, changing spaces.
